Runde Environmental Center

Runde Miljøsenter is an international research station for marine coastal ecology. This involves the development of research infrastructure and sustainable tourism in an area where the sea, fish and birds are part of a vulnerable ecosystem.

The Runde Treasure

In 1972, a large treasure was found on the seabed just outside Runde. It had been sitting there for almost 250 years. Visit our exhibition to see the treasure, and learn about the shipwreck of the merchant ship Akerendam, which sank in 1725.
