Puffin safari from Ålesund

Let us take you on a magical experience where land meets the ocean. On an evening walk up to the bird cliff you will get up close to both the puffin and other birds. Our nature guide will give you an insight into the special life of the seabirds, local history from the island, and of course the story of a real gold treasure from the shipwreck of Akerendam off the coast of Runde in 1725.

You travel by speedboat and private bus to Runde Environmental Center. There you will be met by a skilled nature guide, who will give you a tour of our exhibition, followed by the film "Silver of the Sea", a fantastic nature documentary about puffins and the ecosystem they are a part of here. Runde The tour is followed by dinner, before we head up to the bird cliff.

The hike up to the bird cliff takes 45 minutes. There is plenty to see and experience along the way and we will make several stops. Up on the bird cliff there will be plenty of time to sit and enjoy the view and the fantastic seabirds.

If you're lucky, you'll end the tour with the sun setting in the sea while puffins swarm in the air above your head.

After the tour, the bus will take you safely back to the express boat pier at Hareid, to return to Ålesund.

Practical information:

The trip starts from Ålesund by speedboat at 15:30 to Hareid. At Hareid you will be met by West Auto, who will take you to Runde .

After the hike, you will be transported back to the speedboat at Hareid. Arrival in Ålesund at 23:15.

The tour does not include

• Boat transport from Ålesund-Hareid and return Hareid-Ålesund. Tickets are purchased on board and do not need to be booked in advance.

You must dress for the weather. We recommend waterproof shoes, a wind and/or rain jacket and warm clothing. It can get cold on the mountain in the evenings.
