Guided kayak tour from Herøy Coastal Museum
About the trip
A kayak trip in the archipelago around Herøya includes fantastic nature experiences between a number of islands, islets, skerries and sheltered coves.
Paddling in this area with more than a thousand years of maritime history will bring you close to nature and a hiking experience out of the ordinary!
On the trip, you'll be able to explore the wildlife in the clear water, see fish and perhaps crabs under the kayak, and if you look up, you can take part in the rich birdlife in the area.
Herøya has been a good and safe port for seafarers since the Viking Age, and both the north and south sides of the island have provided rest for travelers before and after sailing around Stad (Vestkapp). Today, in addition to the museum with a guided tour, museum café and shop, you'll find the old church town from the Middle Ages and a lovely recreation and hiking area. Herøya is also one of the selected pilgrimage destinations along the coastal pilgrimage route that runs from Egersund to Nidaros.
